At Connie, we believe privacy shouldn’t be complicated. As a European SaaS company, we’ve built our product and operations around a simple principle: your data, and the data you collect, should stay contained and protected.
We know that our customers care deeply about where their data is stored, how it’s processed, and who has access to it. That’s why we’ve made deliberate decisions to avoid unnecessary complexity and third-party tools when it comes to handling personal data.
Here’s how we categorise and handle the different types of data at Connie.
Signer Data – The Data You Collect
When you issue documents through Connie, you’re likely collecting personal information from the people signing them. This could include names, addresses, birth dates or banking details. In this case, you are the data controller, and we act as the data processor.
Signer data is stored exclusively in our data centres in Denmark. It is never sent to or processed by any third-party tools, and it does not leave the EU. Access to signer data is strictly limited to our Danish senior dev team, who can only access it with your consent and under controlled conditions including IP restriction, VPN and two-factor authentication.
You can also read more about how this in our Customer Privacy Policy and explore further how we manage ISMS and compliance in our Trust Center.
We of course have a Data Processing Agreement in place, and you can get a signed version too, when you sign up for Connie.
We’ve also created a dedicated Privacy Statement for Signers to ensure that people signing documents through Connie understand how their data is handled. You can find it here: https://getconnie.com/privacy-statement-signers
Customer Data – Your Account, Billing and Support Information
Customer data refers to the information we collect about you as a Connie customer—such as your name, email address, company name, and billing details.
We act as the data controller for this type of data. All core customer account data is stored in Denmark, using a single sub-processor, Scannet A/S. If you choose to pay by credit card, we use Stripe as our payment provider. Stripe is a GDPR-compliant processor, and this is the only case where customer data may be transferred outside Denmark for billing purposes.
For customer support, we use Intercom to provide live chat within the Connie platform. If you engage with us via Intercom, your name, email and message history may be stored there, but only for direct customer support. If you prefer not to use Intercom, you're always welcome to reach out via email or book a call. We’re happy to support you through the channel that suits you best.
Signer data is never stored or processed in Intercom, and customer data is never passed to advertising or analytics tools.
Operational and Marketing Tools – Internal Team Systems
Like most SaaS companies, we use a small number of tools to support internal collaboration, marketing and team productivity. These include Slack, Notion, Pipedrive, Jottacloud and Google Cloud Platform (for email and SSO) to name the most important ones.
Some of these systems are based outside the EU. However, they are used only for internal operations. No signer data or sensitive customer data is stored or shared through these tools.
We’ve clearly instructed our team, through our employee onboarding and internal documentation, never to store personal customer or signer data in these systems. In fact, most Connie team members do not have access to any personal data collected through the product at all. Access to signer data is tightly restricted and logged.
Built and Hosted in Europe, By Design
Unlike many SaaS products, Connie is fully hosted in Europe—specifically in Denmark. We’ve deliberately avoided using cloud infrastructure, vendors or hosting providers that store data outside the EU.
This isn’t just a technical detail. It reflects our belief that keeping data contained, local and under our control is one of the best ways we can protect our customers’ privacy and ensure compliance with GDPR.
Transparency and accountability are core to how we operate. If you ever want to learn more about how your data is handled — or see our full list of subprocessors — just get in touch.
Connie is built to keep your data secure, private and fully under control. Signer data stays in Denmark, customer data is limited to a small number of trusted providers, and operational tools are kept completely separate from anything involving personal or sensitive data.
