Understanding permissions

Manage who can access what in Connie. Learn how permissions work at the project level, user level, and for external collaborators.

Your data is safe with Connie — protected by strong encryption and flexible access controls. With our advanced settings, you decide who can view, access, and manage your documents.

There are three levels of permissions in Connie: Project Level, User Level, and External Collaborators.

1. Permissions at Project Level

In Project Settings (go to Project → Project Settings), you can manage who has access to the project:

  • Full team → everyone on the team can see it.

  • Private to you → only you can see it.

  • Private to selected members and collaborators → choose specific team members or collaborators.

💡 Pro tip: Users in a project can see all the documents, contracts etc. inside that project. If you want some contracts to stay more private, we recommend you simply make another project for those.

2. Permissions at User Level

When you invite a new team member (Settings → Our Team), you can set their access:

  • Decide which projects they can access.

  • Grant or limit permissions for managing projects, people & companies, team members, contracts, templates, and account settings.
This gives you control over what each team member can see and edit.

3. Permissions for External Collaborators

External collaborators (e.g. freelancers, temporary crew) only get access to the specific project(s) you invite them to — nothing more.

You can also decide whether or not they are allowed to issue documents from the Projects they are invited to.

That way, you stay in control and avoid giving access to projects they shouldn’t see.
