People work with Connie from many countries. A deadline has to end at midnight where your business is, a Danish contract should print "1. oktober 2026", and you want to read dates and numbers in the format you're used to.
That's why Connie has regional settings in three places. Each one answers a different question:
Where | What you set | What it controls | Who it affects |
Company | Country and Time Zone | Deadlines, expiry dates, reminders and the dates written into documents | Every document issued by that company |
Document | Language & Region | The language signers see and how dates and numbers are printed in the document | Everyone who reads or signs that document |
My Profile | Country and Time Zone | How dates, times and numbers look to you in Connie, and in your exports | Only you |
Good to know
Changing your own profile never changes what your colleagues see, and it never changes a document.
Company: the clock your business runs on
Every company in Connie has a Country and a Time Zone. Together they decide your business day: when a deadline ends, when reminders go out and which days count as the weekend.
This affects:
Expiry dates. A document that expires on 31 March is valid until midnight on 31 March in the company's time zone.
Automatic renewals. Renewals are issued at noon, company time, on the expiry date.
Reminders and expiry notices. Expiry notices go out at noon, company time. Signing reminders are paused over the company's weekend, and the weekend follows the country. In Denmark that's Saturday and Sunday, in Israel it's Friday and Saturday.
Dates written into documents. When you issue a document, SmartTags like the issue date and time use the company's time zone.
If you work with more than one company (Professional plan), each company has its own time zone. A document always follows the company that issues it.
How to set your company's time zone
1. Click Settings in the left-hand menu
2. Click the Company tab
You'll see all the companies registered in your account.
3. Click the three dots next to the company and choose Edit
4. Check the Country and Time Zone
When you change the Country, Connie moves the Time Zone to match. If the country has more than one time zone (for example the United States), pick the right one yourself afterwards.
5. Click Save
New deadlines, reminders and renewals follow the new time zone from now on.
Tip
Connie also asks for your time zone when you first set up your account. It's pre-filled from your browser, so most people only need to check it.
Document: Language & Region
Every template, document and SignPage has its own Language & Region. This is what your signers experience, whoever they are and wherever they open it.
It controls:
The language of the signing page. Buttons and instructions on the signing page are shown in the document's language.
How dates and numbers are printed in the document and the PDF. A Danish document shows "1. oktober 2026" and "1200,50". An English (US) document shows "October 1, 2026" and "1200.50".
Connie detects the language automatically from the text you write. You only need to change it if you want a different language or region. Read about how you change it manually below:
How to change a document's language and region
1. Open the template, document or SignPage in the editor
2. Find Language & Region in the settings panel on the right
3. Click Change and pick the language
Most languages have one option. Four have a regional choice, because they format dates or numbers differently:
English (UK) and English (US)
German and German (Switzerland)
Portuguese and Portuguese (Portugal)
Each option shows a sample date and number, so you can see the difference before you choose.
Numbers typed by signers
Signers can type a decimal number with either a comma or a period, and Connie shows it in the document's format. Phone numbers, account numbers and IBANs are kept exactly as typed.
My Profile: how Connie looks to you
Your profile has its own Country and Time Zone. They only change what you see, and they follow you across every account you work in.
Country decides the date and number format you read Connie in. Connie itself is always in English, so if you choose Denmark, you get English words with Danish formats, like "1.234,56". Your CSV exports use the same format, so they open correctly in your Excel.
Time Zone decides which clock times are shown in. Leave it on Automatic and it follows your computer, so times stay right when you travel. Pick a time zone if you always want to see the same one.
How to update your profile
1. Click your name in the bottom left corner and select My Profile
2. Set Country and Time Zone
3. Click Save
How signature times are shown
Each signature records the time zone the signer was in when they signed, and always shows the time in that time zone, with the time zone next to it. A signer in Chicago and a signer in Copenhagen can sign the same document, and everyone who opens it reads exactly the same record.
Signatures made before this update have no recorded time zone. They are shown in your own time zone on screen, and in the company's time zone in the PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a document show a different date than my screen?
Dates written into a document follow the issuing company's time zone. Times in lists and overviews follow your own profile. Late in the evening, these can fall on different days.
I changed my Country, but my dates look the same. Why?
Connie has its own format for most of the countries we serve. Where a country doesn't have one, Connie uses European English formats inside the EU and British English everywhere else, so for those countries the format doesn't change.
Will changing a setting change documents that are already signed?
No. A signed document never changes. New settings apply to what happens next, like upcoming deadlines, reminders and documents you issue from now on.
Who can change the company time zone?
Anyone who can edit your company information. See Permissions explained: Manage companies.
