Export documents as PDF and CSV files

This article explains how to download many documents at once as a zip file, with the PDFs, a CSV file of their details, or both.

Need a copy of a whole production's contracts for your accountant, or a spreadsheet of everyone who signed? Export gives you the documents in your current view as one zip file.

The zip file can hold:

  • PDF files, one for each document.

  • A CSV file with document metadata, with one row per document, ready to open in Excel or Google Sheets.

Plan requirements

Export is available on the Studio and Professional plans.

Permissions requirements

To export, you need the Manage contracts permission. See Permissions explained: Manage contracts.

Step-by-step guide

1. Open your documents

Go to your document overview, or open a project and click Documents.

2. Filter to the documents you want

Export includes every document in the current view. Use the filters to narrow it down first. You can filter according to:

  • Template used

  • SignPage used to collect the signature(s)

  • Issue date

3. Click Export

You'll find the Export button in the top right corner of the document list.

4. Choose what to include

The dialog shows how many documents will be exported. Tick what you want in the zip file:

  • CSV file with document metadata

  • PDF files

5. Click Export

Connie prepares the zip file in the background, so you can close the dialog and keep working.

6. Download from the email

When the file is ready, you'll get an email called "Your export is ready" with a link to download it.

The link is personal and expires

Only you can open the download link, and it expires after 24 hours. If it has expired, start a new export.

What's in the CSV file

Each row in your CSV file is one document.

The columns are:

Column

What it shows

Type

Contract, or Paper Contract for documents added with Upload & Store

Contract ID

The document's unique ID

Signer Name, Signer Email

The signer's details

Child Name

The child's name, when a parent or guardian signed on their behalf

Project Name

The project the document belongs to

Internal Title, Public Title

The document's titles

Issuing Company

The company that issued the document

Issuer Name, Issuer Email

Who issued the document (Upload & Store documents)

Issue Date, Signed Date, Expiry Date

Key dates, written as YYYY-MM-DD

After these, there's a column for every SmartTag your signers filled in, and for every question they answered on a SignPage. Checkboxes show as Yes or No.

Made for your Excel

The CSV file follows the country in your profile, so it opens correctly on your computer:

  • Danish letters like æ, ø and å come through correctly.

  • Numbers use your decimal mark, for example 1200,50 in Denmark.

  • In countries that use a comma for decimals, the columns are separated by semicolons, so Excel splits them into columns straight away.

  • Dates are written as YYYY-MM-DD, which every version of Excel understands.

What's in the PDF files

You get one PDF per document, named after your file naming setting. See Your account settings.

Signed documents are exported exactly as signed. Documents that aren't signed yet are exported as they currently look. For documents added with Upload & Store, you get the files that were uploaded.

Good to know

  • Personal data leaves Connie. Once exported, the files are stored outside Connie, where Connie's security and access controls no longer protect them. Check that this fits your company's privacy policy. See A lightning guide to Personal Data & GDPR.

  • Sensitive numbers are included in full. CPR numbers and bank details that are hidden in Connie appear in full in the CSV file and the PDFs. Store the export somewhere safe.

  • Need just one document? Open it and download its PDF directly.
