How it works
Upload your PDF to Connie, add the signer, and send. The signing experience works just like any other document in Connie. Once signed, the completed document is stored in your project alongside everything else. It takes about 30 seconds from upload to sent.
What to know before you start
PDFs in Connie are treated as fixed documents. If your PDF contains interactive elements like form fields, checkboxes, or editable inputs, these cannot be filled in or edited inside Connie. The document itself stays unchanged. Only the signature is added.
If you need a document that is fillable, editable, and reusable, Connie Templates are the better choice. With SmartTags, structured content, and dynamic fields, templates are built for exactly that kind of workflow.
But for a PDF that just needs a signature? You are covered.
Step by step guide
1. Create or select a project
You’ll find Projects in the menu on the left-hand side. Here, you can start a new project or choose an existing one.
2. Create a new document
Click on the New Document button in the top right corner.
3. Select From PDF File
Scroll down and select From PDF File.
4. Upload the PDF file
Upload the pdf file you would like to get a signature on.
5. Add signer information
Add the signer information on the right side. Click on edit to insert information like name and email address of the primary (first) signer. If you would like to add additional signers click on Add Signer. You can also decide if the issuer needs to sign the document in the end.
6. (Optional) Add additional recipient
Want to keep someone in the loop without adding them as a signer? You can add an additional recipient to any document and Connie will automatically send them a copy once everything is signed. Handy for someone in accounting, or anyone else who needs to see the final agreements.
7. Select signature type
Choose between simple electronic signature or advanced electronic signature (currently available in Finland, Denmark, Sweden)
10. (Optional) Add custom questions
Create questions for the signer that appear during signing (separately from the contract).
Useful for collecting additional information that doesn't belong in the contract itself.
You can choose whether responses are automatically deleted when the associated project expires, keeping you GDPR-compliant.
11. (Optional) Set expiration date
This is optional but helpful. Connie will remind you before a document, contract, or consent form expires, so you have time to renew or archive it.
Who can use it
PDF signing is available on Team, Studio, and Professional plans. No additional setup required. The option is already there when you upload a file.
